From So Simple a Beginning… provides an insight into the architecture of nature and the biological relationships that are fundamental to life as we know it. The use of rectilinear framing within the work typifies scientific modes of classification and taxonomical systems, yet, through layering sections of the images onto a light box, colours and shapes begin to overlap and blend together, revealing something that exists on the fringes of what we know about the world. The resulting configurations of specimens, star charts and Fibonacci spirals encapsulate the mysteries inherent to nature and allow a glimpse into the gaps that scientific knowledge has yet to fill.
